Use MCA Editor from Your AI App

MCA Editor includes MCP servers — the standard way AI apps connect to tools. Once connected, your AI assistant can open and edit your scripts, read the output panel, and run code inside Maya, Unreal Engine, Blender or Isaac Sim for you.

It connects automatically

Every time MCA Editor starts, it adds itself to the AI apps it finds on your computer. There's nothing to set up. The first launch takes about a minute while it prepares a small Python environment for the connection; after that it's instant.

VS Code (GitHub Copilot agent mode) ✓
Gemini CLI ✓
OpenAI Codex ✓
LM Studio (local models) ✓

After the first connection, restart your AI app (or start a new chat) so it picks up MCA Editor's tools. Keep MCA Editor open while you work — the AI talks to it.

Your settings are safe

MCA Editor only adds its own entries. Everything else in your AI app's settings is kept, and the first time it changes a settings file it saves a backup next to it (*.mca-backup). If a settings file can't be read, it's left untouched.

Check the connection

In the editor, open Help > Connect AI Assistant... to see which apps are connected. Connect now retries, for example after installing a new AI app.

Any other AI app

Any app that supports MCP works. In Help > Connect AI Assistant... click Copy settings for another app, and paste the result into that app's MCP settings (the mcpServers section). It looks like this:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "MCAEditorMCP": {
      "command": "<path to MCA's python>",
      "args": ["<path to mca_editor_server.py>"]
    }
  }
}
